About Urban Tails

At Urban Tails, beautiful grooming and animal welfare go hand in hand.

Our purpose-built dog grooming salon in Campbelltown has been designed to safely and comfortably care for dogs of all breeds and sizes. The salon is clean, organised and professionally equipped, with every grooming area, tool and piece of equipment maintained to the same standards we expect for our own dogs.

We understand that every dog experiences grooming differently. Some arrive confident and ready to begin, while others need more time, a quieter approach or additional reassurance. Multiple safe drying methods are available, allowing our team to choose the option best suited to each dog’s coat, age, temperament and individual comfort level. We do not expect every dog to fit one fixed grooming process. We adapt the process to the dog.

That may mean allowing additional time and/or providing one or more breaks, changing the requested style, recommending a more suitable service or stopping an appointment when continuing is no longer in the dog’s best interests. We will never push a dog through a groom simply to say it was completed. A beautiful result matters to us, but never more than the safety and wellbeing of the dogs in our care or our groomers.

Owners can expect clear and honest communication throughout their relationship with Urban Tails. We will explain how your dog behaved in the salon, discuss their coat condition and let you know about anything that may affect their service. Where regular scheduling, home brushing or simple exercises could improve future appointments, our team will provide practical guidance without judgement.

Our team follows consistent standards across bathing, drying, coat preparation, handling, styling and finishing. Staff training and continued development are central to the way we operate, ensuring every future member of the Urban Tails team understands both the quality expected and the welfare principles behind it.

Urban Tails is setting a new benchmark for calm, professional dog grooming in Macarthur. Calm handling. Beautiful finishes. Serious standards.

Ash
Salon Manager & Qualified Pet Stylist

Ash has been part of the Urban Tails story since before the current ownership. She worked with the original salon and left when it closed, but soon realised how much she missed the dogs. When Urban Tails reopened, Ash returned to lead the salon as our Salon Manager.

A qualified Pet Stylist, Ash has completed extensive grooming training, continued professional development and pet first aid training. Her technical knowledge, high standards and strong understanding of dog welfare play an important role in setting the standard across the salon.

Ash is a perfectionist, but never at the expense of a dog’s wellbeing. She knows when a dog can comfortably continue, when the approach needs to change and when it is time to call it a day. She will not push a dog beyond what they can safely manage for the sake of completing a haircut. She also regularly forgets the after photo because she is too busy talking to the dogs.

She has a flair for Asian Fusion grooming and loves producing beautiful breed-standard grooms. When given creative freedom and a dog who is calm and comfortable with the process, Ash produces unique custom styles that bring out the dog’s individual character.

Ash is honest with owners about how their dog behaved, what they found difficult and what can be practised at home. Her feedback is direct because it comes from care and a genuine desire to create safer grooming, calmer dogs and better long-term results.

Despite being allergic to cats, Ash has a deep love for all animals. Your dog could not be in more caring or capable hands.

Shawn
Senior Groomer

Shawn has been a professional dog groomer for four years and specialises in custom pet trims designed around each dog’s coat, lifestyle and individual character. He is also the Co-Founder and Senior Groomer at One Fur All Dog Grooming, bringing practical experience from an established working salon to his role at Urban Tails.

His approach combines professional grooming with an understanding that every dog responds differently to the salon environment. A beautiful finish matters, but so does knowing when to adjust the process, change the plan or place the dog’s comfort ahead of the requested style.

Shawn joined Urban Tails to work alongside Ash in establishing the Urban Tails grooming standard. Together, they oversee consistency across safe handling, bathing, drying, coat preparation, technical grooming and finishing, while ensuring welfare remains central to every service.

He also assists Ash with the training and development of future team members. His role is to help new groomers build practical skills, professional judgement and a clear understanding of the standards expected when caring for Urban Tails dogs.

Dogs have been part of Shawn’s life since childhood and are now at the centre of his work. For Shawn, professional grooming is about creating results that suit the individual dog while building a salon team owners can trust with their much-loved family members.

Glen
Co-Owner/Director

Dogs have been part of Glen’s life since childhood and continue to be involved in almost every part of it today.

Together with Shawn, Glen owns ten dogs and operates a home grooming salon in Glen Alpine. Over the years they have owned and cared for Cattle Dogs, German Shepherds, Terriers, Rottweilers, American and English Staffies, Dachshunds and a memorable cast of mixed breeds. Most of the dogs they have welcomed into their lives have been rescues.

Their current family includes a Husky, four Toy Poodles and five Cavoodles. Living with such a varied group has given Glen a genuine understanding that breed and size only tell part of a dog’s story. Every dog has their own personality, preferences, sensitivities and way of communicating.

Alongside grooming, Glen and Shawn are ethical breeders of Toy Poodles and Cavoodles. Their breeding program is a passion project focused on giving families access to healthy, carefully raised and DNA-tested puppies. Breeding decisions are made with the aim of reducing the risk of known hereditary diseases, not colour or size.

Their puppies are available only to approved families through their RightPaw waitlist.

Graeme
Co-Owner/Director

Graeme comes from a construction background and is new to professional dog grooming, but he is certainly not new to dogs.

He has owned dogs of different breeds and sizes throughout his life, including Bear the English staffy/Boxer, Bailey the Maltese Terrier, Max the much-loved bitza better known as Wookie, and Sandy the Miniature Fox Terrier.

Sandy was Graeme’s soul dog and a very clever rat catcher. She may have been small, but she took her work seriously.

Graeme is now learning the Urban Tails approach from the ground up under Ash’s guidance. He is currently bathing dogs while developing his knowledge of safe handling, coat preparation and professional salon care.

He brings a practical approach, a willingness to learn and a lifetime of understanding how important dogs are to the people who love them.
